around the bend

Finished off my SoFoBoMo book this evening, right on the last day to get it done. I put more effort into the pictures this time around but quite a bit less into the book design. I borrowed heavily on the work I did last year for the layout and inDesign templates, although I've sized it for a blurb 11x13 book. Not sure I'll get around to it any time soon, but the book is done! You can download the version from SoFoBoMo.org, or flick through the Issuu presentation. I prefer the pdf version, if I had to choose. All images, editing and layout done in the last 31 days.

Beautiful pictures. I had already seen some of them on your blog, but seeing them all together in a finished book is a new experience.
28 days left for me...

Hi Gordon,

Really enjoyed viewing your project! Makes me realize how much I miss traveling to west Texas.

Lots of great work... but my favorite image has to be Amanda in front of Kosmic Kathy's.

It pains me to think of Kathy grilling in that trailer in 100F+ heat.

Hope you're doing well!

Hi Matt, that morning outside of Kosmic Kathy's was about the hottest of the whole trip too. I'd seen a few thermometers in the shade over 110F, heard it was 113F.

I don't know that ordering coffee was my brightest moment, but I'll blame heatstroke.

Congratulations on a terrific job. What an excellent job of conveying the heat, as well as the vastness of the area. Makes me wish I had taken advantage of the Big Bend when I lived in Texas. Bravo.

Beautiful. "Moonrise" is my favorite.

Congratulations on completing your SoFoBoMo book. As others have said, the photos convey the heat and vastness of the area. I enjoyed viewing it and will return to look some more.

The yellow "brick" road! I love the cover image.

And there's a wonderful richness of color -- without being overstated -- that really grabs my attention throughout.

Congratulations on finishing your second SoFoBoMo book!

Gordon, congratulations on your book. Very enjoyable and of course your design concepts are really good. Makes the images stand out, even more.

Great Book, intensive photography. Slowly going through it was really a treat, especially the combination of page height filling wide angle shots at full screen display.

My only concern is the extreme panoramic format, forcing a rather uncomfortable horizontal scroll... Just my 0.02€

I looked through several of the books listed on SoFoBoMo...I really liked yours. I have spent time in the Big Bend area and it brought back fond memories.

Enjoyed it. Thank.
